This is one of my favorite marathons. The race production is amazing, so well organized. I have had a consistently good experience two years in a row. Corrals are easy to navigate, the course takes you through some interesting areas including the Stockyards, and the post race food and drink is worth the 26.2 miles.

I returned this year based on the amazing experience in 2019 and it didn’t disappoint. The course was changed due to construction, which added more hills. It was unfortunate that the portion of the course through Baylor University and the Stadium wasn’t included. However, the new course was good, it still went through the zoo and added the community college as a loop .
The race coordination is top notch, swag is good (including handmade finisher medal).
After party included beer and breakfast tacos!

Much of what I said in the my review last year could be repeated here. To avoid that, I’ll say returning to the marathon was amazing. This is a race you need on your bucket list. While the heavy rain was not ideal, I still consider this my favorite marathon and will be back again. The Marines do an amazing job organizing the event and providing superior support from beginning to end.

The Dallas Arboretum did a wonderful job with this race. White Rock Lake is one of my favorite places to run in Dallas. The course takes the normal 9 miles around the lake and add some extending parts of the possible areas routes around the lake. Free parking was provided in the parking garage across the street (it has tunnel access to the arboretum, no having to cross a busy road). The race swag included a race tshirt, nice medal, and hat. Post race there is an assortment of food options from local restaurants (some free, some for a cost) along with bananas and water. Live music was provided from just after race start until end o the race program. The only challange I had was weather related, very hot and humid conditions. Overall, I’ll keep this one in mind for future years.

The Rowlett Chamber of Commerce does a great job with this local race. There’s options to packet pick up prior to race and on race morning. The medal was redesigned this year and is bigger!

The course was altered slightly this year but didn’t impact the participants running the race. It takes you from downtown around a local high school and then through neighborhoods back to same location as start line.

Volunteers are amazing, spread out throughout the race to cheer and ensure runners stay on track. Sufficient police support is provided throughout the course as well.

The race includes entry in the flight museum which is only open for the race participants.

The course is an actual runway and is an out and back course. Being on the runway was exciting, great views of the airport and airplanes. The downside on this day was a storm moving in which caused high winds which were nice on the during first half but very challenging on second half coming back to finish line.

Swag was great, the medal especially. No special food or drink at end of the race, just water bottles.

I participated in the first leg of the marathon relay and then continued on to complete the half marathon course. It’s a well attending and well supported race. There are sections of the course that you no fan support. The half marathon course has some hills throughout but heavy during the later part of the course.

The expo is okay, the bib pickup and race shirts are not close together (opposite end of the facility from each other).

On race morning, there is a pancake option at the First Church (next to starting corrals) which is a nice touch. I would caution if you have a bag to check, pay attention to location that this occurs. It’s not at the starting area but several blocks away (at finish line).

The medal is great! Also, the tech shirts are nice.

I enjoy participating in my local Santa 5k. It takes place on main street and runs through some adjoining neighborhoods. It’s a flat course and generally easy to run. This year there is road construction but race coordinator handled it well with the course routing. You receive a long sleeve shirt with registration and a medal you place (either overall or age group).

This was the most inspirational marathon i’ve done to date. Having Marines cheering me on and a line of them congratulating me at the end of the race… wow. I’ve always enjoyed touring DC, this was a a one of kind way to see our capital.

The course was flat for the most part except for some elevation at the beginning… and beware of the steep hill before the finish line. Race support of aide stations and crowd support were awesome. It is a large race but i never felt crowded along the course as they now have instituted corrals that were enforced.

The long sleeve shirt has become a bit legendary… we will leave it at that. The medal is unique, having a globe that opens to display a gold coin. Marines know about medals!

Overall, I’d love to do this one again… and I am in 2019!

This was my second time to race the RNR Philly half marathon. RNR does a wonderful and consistent job managing these races. I especially like Philadelphia for the course that provides for downtown city streets and lake side running. It’s a great way to see the city.

The crowd support is good in the early miles of the course while in the downtown area and is sparse along the lake. That didn’t bother me as I enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Course support of the aid stations and volunteers was great.

The expo is okay with Brooks as the main attraction but included some other booths you’d expect to see. The medal was awesome with the liberty bell as the focus and the race shirt was normal for RNR races. The swag bag had some samples and coupons, nothing special.

I paid a little extra for the VIP access and it’s worth it. A tent and table seating with breakfast in the morning and lunch, beer/wine, and massages after the race. Most importantly, private porta potties… no lines!
