The whole world seems to be looking for flat and fast courses… so much that running has become boring.
Well, folks, this is not it. The Miracle Match Race Series is a challenge. The kind that takes your mind off the running and focuses on the experience. 13.1 beautiful miles, running through the award-winning Cameron Park Zoo, Cameron Park hills, Methodist Children’s Home, and McLennan Community College. If you’re really brave (or stupid?), tackle the Jacob’s Ladder Challenge at Mile 11. We do give you a gentle last 2 miles flat along the river. You’re welcome.
This boutique race offers so much more than the cookie cutter big city races. Even the finisher medal is unique, custom made by a local firefighter who donated stem cells through “Be the Match”, not a factory-made medal. Take on the Miracle Match Half Marathon and earn a custom finisher jacket, fajitas, and beer at the finish line. It’s party celebrating YOU!
Did we scare you? Are you not quite ready for the hills or the distance? We offer a 1 Mile and 5K on Saturday, a 10K and the two-person relay on Sunday, which allows you to enjoy the finish line party and your custom finisher medal as well! We even have a Firetruck Pull Saturday morning, just to entertain ourselves.
Join us the last weekend in January at Waco’s iconic suspension bridge for an experience you will never forget!

I returned this year based on the amazing experience in 2019 and it didn’t disappoint. The course was changed due to construction, which added more hills. It was unfortunate that the portion of the course through Baylor University and the Stadium wasn’t included. However, the new course was good, it still went through the zoo and added the community college as a loop .
The race coordination is top notch, swag is good (including handmade finisher medal).
After party included beer and breakfast tacos!

I love everything about this race—the medals, hometown, the finisher food, and the lack of crowds. However, this year was not Muracle Match’s finest. There seemed to be a decrease in the usual number of water stops and traffic control. A couple of busy intersections were without anyone directing traffic and the lack of runners made it hard to determine where to go. I had to direct some out of towners. Sad that there was no finisher shirt.
Mark the route!

As an out-of-towner, I felt like this race was an inside job. The announcer only mentioned names of people he knew–supposedly local runners–and, worse, the route was poorly marked. Another out-of-town runner and I found ourselves at a crossroad with no direction and ended up lost downtown and having to ask directions back. There was a lead bike, but with one person way out in front, the rest of us had no view of the bike to lead us in. Locals seemed okay, but if you want to encourage others to run, you need to welcome and support. The bull medal was cool, though.

This year there was very little support in the full course. Some intersections did have people and dodging of cars was required, not enough water stops and course was not well marked. On more than one occasion I had to tell an out of town person where to go because it was not marked. Also the hat received at the finish didn’t even say finisher

After completing this race, I completely respect why there’s not a published elevation map because it might scare people away. The course is mostly flat, sure there’s a couple of big hills which you reach the top at miles 14 and 15, but the real fun begins just after mile 20. This is not the course to try to beat your marathon PR, but definitely one I will be doing again

As a first timer for the HM, I knew what I was in for as far as hills and steep hills. If you love a challenge, try walking up Jacobs Ladder at mile 10. So worth the extra bling! Overall a great race, great production, and we lucked out with the beautiful weather. Don’t go in with high expectations of a PR. Enjoy the scenery and the misery of hill after hill after hill. For a great cause, Be the Match, make a difference.

One of a kind challenging marathon, plenty of hills and other “fun” optional challenges such as the climb up Jacobs ladder after eating a jalapeño around mile 22. The “encouraging” signs as you enter the hills of Cameron park will either entertain, motivate or tick you off enough to push through them hills, overall it’s one you have to experience and tell or brag to all your friends about.

This race is a logistical dream. Show up 30 minutes before race starts for hardly any lines in a hotel bathroom and a parking spot near the start/finish. It’s not a big race but it’s so easy and stress-free.
The half course begins with close to 7 miles of flat roads near and around downtown Waco and Baylor University. Then about 3 miles of some pretty challenging hills. Like actual hills, not rolling inclines – HILLS. But what goes up, must come down. The final 3 miles are a huge downhill and flat to the finish.
I do this race every year.

I have run both the Half and Full marathon and I have to stress that you will need to prepare for the hills… It’s definitely not a secret, they do give you fair warning. This race showcases the best views Waco has to offer and is well organized. Year after year they offer some of the best most unique medals and race swag! This is hands down one of the best races and all for a good cause too!

The first half of the marathon course is along the river & through Baylor’s campus, but starting at about the halfway point there is nothing but rolling hills & more rolling hills. I was under prepared & I knew it so my miles were slower than my previous 2 marathons & the hills (most of which I knew were coming) really slowed me down. Great challenging course, nice scenery, good swag & I would run again for sure.
