Beautiful course with mountains on one side and ocean on the other. Great race shirt, nice medal. Not much at the finish line – Gatorade, fruits, cookies. I would definitely do it again if I’m in Maui at the right time, but wouldn’t consider it a destination race.

Flat and fast but very congested

Very flat (only 110 feet of elevation gain).
Great swag – large medal, Celebration marathon-themed blanket, t-shirt.

Well organized.
Solid crowd support (in spite of it being in the 30s at raise start)
Scenic – very pretty Town of Celebration
The bad:
Very flat (only 110 feet of elevation gain) – clearly I have mixed feelings about this aspect!!
Very crowded – parts of the race were very narrow with lots of turns, making it difficult to run through traffic
All in all, I’m glad I traveled down for this race. It is a very fast course (if you can weave your way through all the other runners) – I missed my PR from 15 years ago by only 40 seconds. I would do this race again, but would line up closer to the start.
