So this was my first time doing this race. It was crazy tough with the hills and valleys, but I really enjoyed it. Initially, I was thinking this was going to be a one & done race, since it was tough. However, by the time I finished, I knew I wanted to come back to try the 10k next year. I was told by friends that’s the one that has the best scenery.
I’m walker, so of course, we were at the back of the pack. We had 10kers and half marathoners passing us by. We stepped aside as we could hear them coming, since the trails could be kind of tight in some areas. As moved aside, so they could keep running, they all thanked us. We only came across one crabby person, who was somewhat obnoxious.
The vibe of the race was super chill and overall positive, which is why I want to come back.
Also, I appreciated how the race director, Terry, kept posting and offered alternatives to participants as they’re had been several fires happening days before the races, which were affecting freeways people would need to travel. Luckily enough by race morning, all freeways had opened up.
I think I’ll be bringing some newbies with me next to do the race!!
Oh, I forgot to mention, I love the race shirt, bag, and medal as race swag. I can’t wait to see what color comes out next year.

Lake Powell was one of my favorite races with Vacation Races. Although the course ended up being longer than expected due to a wrong turn by one of the lead runners, Vacation Races did acknowledged it and made light of it as I received a 13.8 race sticker in the mail. Vacation Races always does their best to ensure their runners/walkers have the best possible experience!!

This race by far is one of my favorite races. The scenery was absolutely majestic!! The course us basically the drive into Zion and just amazing!! The morning of the race was cold, but as the sun came up, it no longer matter. Did I mention how beautiful out there was?? Before I forget, there was plenty of course support. The staff of Vacation Races truly care about their runners/walkers!! 🙂
