This is my first year doing the 3-way challenge and the bag check between 5k and 10k races was well organized. The medals are great and the swag is awesome. Loved it.

Do you like a race where you aren’t dodging cars, there are plenty of restrooms provided, where there is medical assistance throughout the course, or where you get a bottle of water after you finish? Well, then this race is NOT for you. I think the cars and the restrooms were the biggest frustration for me. It cost me at least 15 minutes just waiting to go on the course and that’s after I waited for 6 miles hoping the lines would get shorter. Also, the cars speeding by without anyone to direct them and they were coming onto the course, NOT GOOD. This isn’t really a closed course. Which is funny because they started 15 minutes late because of “cars on the course”.

They ran out of water bottles and wine glasses at the finish. I had to wait at least 30 minutes for the wine glass and then waited in lines for the wine. They were also giving half marathon medals to 5k finishers. I guess they ran out of 5k medals. Not fun when you run over 4 times the distance and get the same medal.

I stayed at a partnered hotel and the shuttle service actually worked out great once I got past all the confusion of if it would even get me back to my hotel. I still don’t know what the timing was so I raced out of the post-race event so I would get stuck so far away from my hotel (that would have been a $50 uber).

Although there is no real course information except a roadmap, you can guess it was going to be hilly. It was an elevation of 495 ft according to my Nike Run App. That’s pretty hilly.

The course was beautiful and people did seem to be having fun. The medal is cute. If this ran at all smoothly I would recommend it for the location but as is I don’t think it’s worth it. Just run around Napa on your own and save the cash.

If you like snacks while you’re running this is the race for you. I can’t even name all the snacks from bacon to jelly beans to gu they had it all. Lots of great spectators and great scenery.

The hills are rough and the after race party was kind of fizzled out. The post race snacks were also a bit disappointing (surprisingly).

The swag and medal are great, especially for the price. This was the 20th anniversary though so I don’t know what’s standard.

Would do again.
