The course was nice – with hills in the first third and relatively flat for the rest. It was well supported and we got to see some neat things in Salem like the State Capital, Bush Park, the State Hospital grounds and Gear Park. It’s positioned well for anyone running a December marathon somewhere warm.
Fun Race right in Salem

This was the inaugural run for this race. Being the only run to start and end at the state capital of Oregon. I went in with low expectations from running so many pretty races in the country. However this course was fun, it was easy so I got my best time ever, very flat, just a few hills. It also was a pretty time of year with some fall colors and did a good job of going though the city of Salem seeing some of the landmarks and even going over this cool tunnel pedestrian bridge. The Volunteers were the best, they were all great at keeping everyone on course and lots of energy and high fives from them. I love the swag, the medal was huge and cool and the race shirt was one of the best I have gotten with great white and green colors. Lots of food and things to do after the run. I had a lot of fun running this race.
