This was a crazy fun race. First trail race and first trail 1/2 marathon. While I trained, I had no idea what was in store. The first uphill was crazy, the narrow trails were narrow- even had to find a wider area to let someone pass. The high winds didn’t make it easier. That didn’t stop me, or any other person. Great views, wonderful scenery, lovely people and volunteers. Due to my speed and slow downs on the trail portions, I was over time. There were still people at the aid stations and waiting at the finish line. They didn’t leave anyone on the course. Even the photographers were at all the picture points. Everything about this race was great.

It’s a smaller race, held just before the Long Beach Grand Prix. We actually get to run some of the course. It’s 2 laps, with a pace car to lead. I ran in the Open division, but there is an Elite for the fast people. Money goes to charity, so it is worth doing.
