The Park to Park Half Marathon course is simply bucolic in its setting. I was constantly taking in the pastoral countryside, the bubbling creeks, and the amazing Blue Ridge mountains. Someone used this wonderful backdrop for a mid-race proposal my first year running the race! (He popped the question at mile 9… Did she finish the race after saying “Yes”??)
The race organizers do a great job from packet pick up, race logistics (its a point to point race), and the after-race party. I’m a confessed Garmin data freak and I appreciate the consistent mile markings on the course! (Super happy that the uphill finish is no more too.) The course has one significant hill and plenty of rollers — but it’s still a great route for newbies and PR-seekers! Solid swag too with shirt/medal/finishers hat.
