About Me

  • Running club(s):
  • Rave race:
  • Race that's calling my name:
  • I run because:

    I was over 200lbs as a 13 year old and Frank Shorter was my hero and inspiration to start running.   I did my first marathon as a 15 year old.   Still have the t-shirt which hangs in my fitness studio. I now run for mental health as well as physical health and pass the joy of running on to my clients.  My proudest moment was having 14 clients run in the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot  in Nov 2019

Can’t beat the scenery. Rolling down hills through vineyards. The busses are good and the weather this year was perfect. I think the only thing I would prefer is if the 1/2 people started later so some of them were finishing with us marathoners, just makes a fun finish line area if we are all finishing closer in times, otherwise the 4-6 hour marathoners are kind of left out of the finish line fun.

I have to say, from the parking to the bus ride, to the bag drop off and the finish, this is a well produced marathon with no time problems, lots of bathrooms and the running down the silverado trail, oh my gosh. It really was a joy, as much a joy as running 26.2 miles can be!!

I was surprised to see bad reviews of this race and was amazed at how great it was. I parked within a 5 min walk, did the 10k on saturday and full marathon on sunday. The finish line was great, with lots of spectators to cheer you on. There was great scenery, food and water on the course. I will do this race every year I can. Thanks for a great marathon

Rediculous to be exactly 1 mile short when we ran in circles in city parks, it was 91 degrees at the start and the water stations had HOT water , just one had ice water and not enough volunteers so u had to pour it yourself into cups. After 845 we are running in the dark and a guy fell down and got hurt. Don’t do this race, not safe

in 2017 I hated this race!!! I swore to never do it again, i didn’t want to watch people peeing in public, be next to drunk people and people smoking marijuana right in the corrals, and the way too many naked people BUT this year, 2018, it was so much fun!!! Greater police presence, which created a fun not drunk or high atmosphere, people didn’t jump in from the sides, we could actually run!! I did the 15k, the first year of the bonus. Really do it, it is SF at its best.

So this is a race many runners do to Boston Qualify. Runners are bussed up the mountain and run 5000 ft downhill. some miles are over 300 ft downhill. The start is at 7500ft and I had trouble breathing the first 2 miles and watched an elite runner, throw up every 1/2 mile until she pulled out of the race. Pain set in at mile 16 in my ankles and calves and so slowed down horribly but still had a 30 minute PR. Just train and train more running downhill and it is a good race to BQ

Obviously running a marathon in Rome is iconic but, get ready to hurt. There are cobblestones at the start for 1.75 miles, around the Vatican for 2 miles and again at the finish off and on for 4 miles. Everyone was limping afterwards with many people being attended to by paramedics after mile 20. The race ran out of sponges at one stop around mile 18, I suggest carrying water, they could use more water stations on course, there is not enough bathrooms before or on course so men are urinating everywhere. The start had 3 waves but that didn’t matter, everyone just went at once so the start is very slow for the first 2 miles. As great as it is to run in Rome, just know it will be difficult

I like you probably thought, why would I go do a marathon in Modesto? who goes to Modesto on purpose??? well for this Marathon. Great staff, started on time, close parking, pb&j sandwiches on course, neighbors cheering you on with beer kegs, applesauce and m&ms, huge metal, medical staff driving up and down the course checking on you, really the best race I have done in the last two years and will always come back. oh and the 10 1/2 min marathon PR didn’t suck!!

This was their first year and they didn’t have enough shuttles and the Pebble Beach employees had no idea where bib pick up was, and so people got to the starting line late and it was so cold. the scenery though made it all worth it but be used to hills, this is all hills. Great buffet afterwards through at the Inn.

i fully support walkers at any race, but especially when a 5k and a 10k start at the same time, why can’t the announcer tell the walkers and slower people to be at the back of the pack??? and to move to the left so the runners can get through??? and I don’t know, but Pizza at the end of a race?? just seems like it kills the reason for a race

I actually did both the 5k and 1/2. very well organized but strange I had to pay 10$ extra to get my bib mailed when there are so few entries and i could have signed up that morning. Only their 2nd year though so probably just getting to know how to run a race.

I am a fairly serious runner and was in corral B. There were high kids who got past security and were in the corrals just to cause a disturbance without bibs. Also the spectators jumping out into the street to take pics going against the racers was dangerous. I have no problem with the partiers, but they should be in back corrals and not causing these issues. Maybe I am just old 🙂
