This race follows a loop course around the Point Pinole Regional Park. It’s mostly level, with two minor ascents over the ridge that makes up the spine of the park. I enjoyed the constantly changing scenery across the Bay (ships, tidal variations, weather and lighting). It was a typically well organized Brazen Racing event, with plenty of support. I liked receiving a sweatshirt as swag, I already have way too many t-shirts, like every other runner. Finally, there was an error in my final distance, and Brazen was able to fix it simply and quickly via email.

This is a popular race, run by locals and UC Berkeley students. It was interesting to run on streets that I normally walk or drive. The long sleeve t-shirt seems to be a badge of honor, I see more of them at other races than any other race shirt. I have to fault the organizers on the arrangement of the starting and finishing chutes for the half marathon and 5k. Basically, sweat check at BHS was isolated from the 5k start chute by the half finishing chute; there was no obvious or marked way to cross over the latter. This was quite annoying, especially given the crowds of runners.
