I love vacation races. They put on an epic event, and I have done Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Yellow Stone, and Grand Tetons. Though I was supposed to complete the Sasquatch Double, I was only able to do the 5K. It was way too warm to be on the shoulder of the road. My shoes were black and practically cooked my toes. But they kept us safe by controlling vehicle traffic, and the expo was wonderful as always. Definitely missed the s’mores station. 😹 hopefully I can go back without torn ankle tendons and try again.

Having always wondered how far or fast I could run if I didn’t have to worry about not finishing was the primary motivation for signing up. The volunteers are incredible, the course is serene during the day and full of life at night. A PD officer played the rocky theme for 30 minutes, a volunteer joined me for a loop when I was feeling beat down. Every two miles I got to see my family and it was incredible. I would love to go back. The towel is unique and a really good size.

This course is incredibly challenging. Not just the inclines, but it gets narrow and it’s out and back. I’m a solid turtle, so I tried to “pull over” for the faster runners on their way back, but it’s still really narrow. The energy and support on course however, is freaking amazing. It’s like taking a party on a hike.
