A total blast from start to finish. I was nervous going in, not expecting much from myself. The MC and race director led a beer toast before the race and got the crowd amped up and excited. The race itself was well maintained away from traffic with signs and volunteers, with an uphill stretch in miles 2 and 3 and a rewarding downhill blast in the final mile and a half. But the best part was sticking around for the incredible post race atmosphere. I didn’t purchase a beer fest ticket, so I was worried I wouldn’t be able to have as much fun, but I was treated to Athletic Beer and a great social scene. All restaurants in the Barlow were open for purchases, so I didn’t miss out! Watching the beer mile, both open and professional, was the highlight of the event. Everyone was watching and got into it!

Winning my age group even though I came in 7th was icing on the cake. I’m coming back next year for sure.

This race gives you plenty of distance options. A steady incline to start and then meanders through great scenery with a fantastic beer fest at the end. My crew typically camps, then rides bikes to the event, then runs and enjoys beer and watching the beer milers. Such a pleasant overall day.

This was the first year they’ve done the half marathon length route, and it was beautiful! It was mostly flat and about 50/50 on roads vs paths. The scenery was fantastic, including vineyards, river views, and even some marsh views (I saw several herons). The only negatives were that they didn’t give out Gu or something comparable (they did have water stations with a sport drink option, though) and the full route was 13.87 miles. They eliminated the extra distance by putting the time chip start strip .77 miles into the race. So, if you’re a warm-up jog before you race type of person, you’ll love it, and if not, feel free to walk at the start. Highlights other than the beautiful scenery were the perfect weather, beer toast start, and the beer festival finish. It’s also entertaining to watch the beer mile event during the festival. I would highly recommend this race and plan to participate again next year! 🍺

    – Less than 1 week from the event received info email on how to p/u race packet, limited options offered.
    – Additional fee charged for packet p/u not included in race fees. For a race registration that already cost $96.78, was frustrated with the extra fees and the SWAG bag only merch was a tshirt, coupons, and the bib.
    – Overall had a negative experience with the individual who was overseeing the race as well as with the numerous disorganized check-in points.
    – The race itself was fun to participate in.

This Run was absolutely amazing. The most fun I’v had running. From start to end I was met with amazing people and a wonderful energy. There was excitement, Calm, and Focus all in one place. The organizers made it easy to know where to go. The Run itself was beautiful and made me forget I was even going up a slight uphill at times. It was my first time but I will be returning and I’m bring more people with me!

I’m so glad this was back on again this year and that they moved the Beer Mile competitions up an hour. Parts of the course are beautiful with fields and farm animals, vineyards, and a lovely downhill trail with lots of trees. The beer and cider vendors were awesome and you could feel the energy and excitement. The pre-run toast is always fun too! Also glad they had a 3k for younger and shorter distance participants. I’m glad it was later in the Fall as the leaves were kind of starting to change color!

Super fun race with lots of camaraderie during the beerfest for runners and non runners alike. Lots of beers (and a few ciders) from all walks of life with an understandable emphasis on the IPAs. The shuttle service that went from Santa Rosa to the Barlow was so helpful! Made the race morning way less stressful.

You can have all the beer you want after the race with 20+ breweries serving 2 or more varieties. The only medal you need from a race as it is practical as it is a bottle opener. Course is deceptive as it has a bit of a slow incline for first 2 miles then flattens out and then a bit of decline on last mile. Nice event but no mile markers this year so hope they bring that back next year.

Sebastopol is beautiful, and the course is not very difficult — what little uphill there is occurs in the first half of the run, the last couple of miles are easy — and then you get to try lots of good beer! My favorite is Crooked Goat, but there are many really nice brews such as Bear Republic and others! This is a super fun time! I have run it in 2017 and 2018, and it has been sunny and awesome.
