Western Massachusetts is such a great place to run. The Fall time around here boasts such beautiful colors the scenery is just breath-taking. It also encompasses a lot of races. A lot! Mostly 5Ks but there are bunches of races of all different distances… from 2 mile walks/runs to a few half marathons, maybe even a full marathon sprinkled in the mix, but not many. There are so many races this time of year with good reason… the weather, the temperatures, and the scenery is just awesome for running.
Hence, the idea… how about a SPRING Half Marathon for EVERYONE? A race for newbies as well as for seasoned runners; for those training for a tri or for a fall 26.2; for those who THINK they can run that far and for those who KNOW; for those who want to run ONE half all year; for young and old, tall and short, thin and not, barefoot or soled runners… Everybody’s Race.
The WMass Mother’s Day Half Marathon starts at YCI (Yankee Candle Inc. Production Facility) and finishes at the Whately Police Station. Refreshment stops are approximately located at miles 2, 3.5, 5, 7, 9, 10.5, and 12. Water will be available at all stops. Gel will be available at mile 7. Gatorade will be available at miles 5 and 9. There is also an Oranges & Candy stop around mile 10.5.
NEW OPTION THIS YEAR FOR WALKERS ONLY: A 9-Mile Walker’s Option! We tested it out last year with great success, so this year there will be the option to WALK a shortened course. This is an untimed option, so you will not have a chip on your bib. This is a great way to get out there and participate in a truly fabulous event!

Mostly flat course with some hills
This was my second ever half marathon. Race temp was good and the course was scenic. Some rolling hills towards the beginning but also some long flat stretches by farmland. MORE
