Due to active road slide areas closing by the original course, the WRC50K course was re-imagined and now has a new start/finish area, Shores Lake Recreation Area at the Pavilion. The run begins there at 9:00am.
No Fees, No Frills, No WIMPS! Don’t Be a Dumbass – read the race INFO!
The 50K is part of the AURA Ultra Trail Series, the 25K is part of the AURA Ultra Trail Series Lite.
There is no entry fee, a small donation is appreciated to help cover costs. Refreshments will be at the Shores Lake Pavilion starting at about 1:00PM.
If doing the 50K and not confident of a 5:00PM finish you are welcome to start early. (Study the map, you will be unsupported until the aid station volunteers get set up, you will not be eligible for awards).
Course Profile:
50K: 31 miles, 5,714 elevation gain
25K: 16 miles, 2,924 elevation gain
Course Info:
The course is on well maintained forest roads with some trail sprinkled in for good fun. The 25K will run the Rim Trail (2ish miles). 50K will run the Rim Trail (2ish miles) and a short out and back on the Ozark Highland Trail for another 2ish miles. Aid stations are approximately 5 miles apart
Important Note About Course: Avoid the recreation area, campground area, parking area, at the top of White Rock Mountain, this is not part of the course! This is important as we could lose access to this course. We will enjoy the amazing view at the Sunset Point while running the Rim Trail.
There are no longer alternative starts as in running to the top, riding bike back, starting at the top and running to the start/finish area. We have to start at the starting line and finish by crossing the finish line for both distances.
This 50K is very challenging and not recommended for those who have not at least completed the marathon distance. This course is guaranteed to help work off those Christmas Holiday pounds before Valentine’s candy arrives.
