The Waxahachie Family YMCA is proud to be hosting its annual Family Santa Run/Walk. This 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run is a tradition the whole family can enjoy. In the spirit of the season, every runner will receive a 5 piece Santa Suit to wear during either of the two runs.
Get in the spirit by decorating your suite stroller and even your pet as they enjoy the event with you. Those running for time will be able to compete in categories divided by gender and age. Over 16 categories of runners will be awarded.
Not feeling very festive? *This year we have a new category! You can sign up to run as a GRINCH!* Grinches will run the course backwards, and will receive a Grinch mask along with their Santa suit. Grinches are also welcome to “Grinch-up” their Santa suits. There is limited availability to run as a Grinch so be sure to sign up quickly as Grinch slots will fill up quickly.
All proceeds will benefit the YMCA Angels Program providing special needs programming for our community. All activities will take place at the square in downtown Waxahachie.

Who dosent like to wear a Santa suit and run a 5K?
This was a fun run. Great for families
Fees were very affordable
For your fee you get to run/walk of course but you also got a 5 piece Santa suit (pants, shirt, belt, hat, & beard) that you are supposed to wear during the run. There was a timed and a non timed option. They had t-shirts available for an extra fee.
Early packet pickup was offered as was race day pickup.
The event. In downtown Waxahachie. Pretty old town square. Before the run there were other activities available, some vendors, and other pre race activities to occupy your time prior to the start. Lots of free parking.
The run had a 9:00 start which is nice for a change, don’t have to get up too early. So the run, I think everyone but about 5 wore their Santa suits (party poopers, don’t be so serious). The course was mostly flat no real hills. A little less than half of the course was through a park on a concrete trail and the rest was on the local streets. At two points you will cross train tracks and this day the train did detain about 30 runners. All part of the small town charm? Once again don’t take it so serious. Most they were caught seemed to take it in stride (pun intended). I was fortunate to beat the train. Post race threcovery meal y had water, fruit, doughnuts, milk, and cookies. Awards only for the top finisher in each age group. They also had awards for best dressed Santa and stroller or something. This was a fun event. Great family run and I could see that it might be an annual run for families. Low budget but okay. Only complaint, no mile markers but that may just be me. I couldn’t get my gps started so I was lost on time and distance. Which was good and bad. Nice to not rely on electronics but I also like the feedback. Overall fun small event. I will run again.
