The events’ growth over the years has been an exciting journey, as we have watched participants challenge themselves, families grow closer, the running community become stronger, and so many runners reach milestones they once only dreamed … MORE

Race director Jeff “Happy to Help” Fedorko failed to respond back to me about a question that I had which wasn’t addressed in the website. I’ve sent messages three times but to no avail. Okay, fine…if that’s how he’s going to treat the prospective runners like me, then I’m gone and will look for a different race. See ya. By the way, Jeff…don’t ever mention to anyone with these words “happy to help” if you aren’t going to do it at all.

    – This is a very challenging course even for the pros. Huge elevation gain from miles 1.5 to 3 and “The Farm Basket Hill” at mile 8.5. The final stretch is all uphill, and it’s brutal.

    – The course is really scenic- starting out in midtown Lynchburg and winding up through the historic Rivermont neighborhood, past Randolph College, through lovely Riverside Park, and back.

    – Very well organized for a small town race. Decent aid stations with water and gatorade. No energy gels or snacks.

    – Crowd support is absolutely incredible. Local colleges send out their cheerleading teams, track teams, etc. to cheer you on, especially along the middle of the race.

    – The weather is usually crisp at the start, but very warm by the finish. Almost always humid.

    – Post-race food is just OK- pizza, fruit, bagels. No beer. 🙁

    – Plenty of parking at “The Plaza” which is a 5-10 minute walk to the starting line.

Test yourself at the Virginia Ten Miler!

Save energy for the turn around at the 5 mile mark. Huge hill. It was very well organized though and they have great post race food. There are lots of spectators to cheer the runners on which is nice. They usually have beautiful finisher medals too!
