The Urban Wildland certified half-marathon course is flat, circular, and passes through shaded neighborhoods, past several parks and through three natural areas. The 5K course features a lap around Taft Lake. Most of the course is paved, including the stretches around Richfield Lake and through Veterans Park. The only non-paved section is the 1.8-mile stretch around Wood Lake Nature Center, which is a regularly-maintained crushed limestone surface.
For the first time, all runners who cross the finish line and complete their event will receive a handmade wood finisher medal, made from buckthorn and other invasive wood species from Wood Lake Nature Center.
