This December, the streets of Mt. Holly are about to be swarmed with the season’s most terribly tacky sweaters. Get out your most embarrassing, awe inspiring Ugly Sweater and join in downtown Mt. Holly at the North Pole (Start Line) to get this season off to a holly jolly start.
The Mount Holly Middle School and Rankin Elementary Ugly Sweater 5K and Tinsel Tangle 2K are produced by a collaboration of the Mount Holly Middle School PTO and Rankin Elementary PTA to raise funds to support the awesome students and staff at Mount Holly Middle School and Rankin Elementary with the gracious support of Accentuate Med Spa along with our other sponsors.
If you don’t have (or admit to having) an Ugly Sweater we would still love to have you join us to support our PTO and PTA – feel free to hit the 5k or 2k course festive costuming or not. We can’t wait to see everyone’s smiling faces as they cross the South Pole (Finish Line).
And if running is not your thing come on out just to see the sights, have a cup of hot cocoa, and enjoy a treat. We hope you will also stop by the Elf Zone to enjoy some family friendly activities and mingle with some elves. There will be hot cocoa and coffee for purchase and we may even have a food truck selling breakfast.
The Tinsel Tangle 2k starts at 8:15 and the Ugly Sweater 5k starts at 8:45 at the L&E Properties North Pole (Start Line).

This 5k was held at the Elementary school and is a PTO ran fundraiser. From what I understand, this is the 2nd year of this race. As it was my first time, I mapped out the course using Myrun for its elevation an saw that the course was very hilly, and decided to use it as a training run. There were others in this race as part of a team scoring pack series.
First issue was we all started AHEAD of the timing mat. Not sure how we were supposed to get accurate time. Then at where the turnaround should have been, was nothing. There was a water station, but the volunteers did not set the water table across the path, but along side the path. This was also NOT addressed during the announcements before the race.
I ended up running a half mile extra.
The medals were super generic, and the shirt was OK.
Won’t be participating again.
