The Two Rivers Marathon Race Festival is going to be a great event running past rivers, bridges and forests!
The Marathon will be a certified Boston Marathon Qualifier.
We’re the SWAG-iest race company out there! Fees include so much more than just the race!
Announcements
- The Saturday marathon and half marathon events will have pace groups. The pace groups will generally be 3:30 up to 4:45 pace groups. We’ll provide more info as the event gets closer.
- Fast Finishes has partnered with Run Love Run for professional coaching services.
- On Sunday, the Dunkin’ Donuts cruiser will be onsite with coffee and donuts!
- Rowlands Coop, conveniently located at the only stop sign on the course, halfway between the start and the half marathon and marathon turnaround, is offering to provide free coffee to all spectators – Sat and Sun 8 am – Noon. Thank you, Rowlands Coop.
- We have a non-binary registration option that has their own awards categories: overall and age groups.
- All our events include aid stations, hydration and post race food.
- The marathon and half marathon at all races will have the option to start at 0630 am for those who need extra time or would like to run when it’s a bit cooler.
- All first time half marathon and marathon finishers will receive a plaque that commemorates their first half or full marathon finish. The athletes will also receive their finisher’s medal. Find Mark at the end of the race and let him know you ran your first marathon or half.

Sometimes a run is just a run. Not an event, not a party…just a run. That’s exactly what the Two Rivers Marathon offers.
The course is a 2x out-and-back along the river. The river itself is quite lovely and provides an ever-present soundscape for your run. Otherwise, the scenery is plain — lots of trees and the road. It’s not flat, but not super hilly — just some gentle climb.
There was no traffic control, so cars routinely used one land to pass. Most drivers went slow with flashers and respected runners. By the second half of the race, some drivers were cruising along unchecked at full speed.
Expect very little crowd support. The few folks who camped out to cheer were enthusiastic and friendly (thanks for being there!). Most of your miles will be run in quiet solitude.
Water stations every couple of miles, with Gatorade, too. No snacks. Low-key. There was also a porta potty every few miles.
Post-race was sparse. A few spectators and volunteers milling about. I had to track down my medal. There was bottled water. Supposedly there were sandwiches and cookies, too, but can’t confirm.
If you’re just looking for a quiet run on a state road, without the big city race frills, this race fits squarely in that space.

The Two Rivers Marathon is considered one of the best races for qualifying for the Boston Marathon. It is now in the Top 25 of Boston Qualifier times of all marathons in the USA (a qualifying percentage above 18%). So, it’s a flat and fast course!
If you’re interested in running back-to-back marathons, the Two Rivers Marathon has got you covered too. All runners who complete the double will get an “I Did the Double” shirt. Those with qualifying times will receive an “I Qualified for the Boston Marathon” T-shirt. Unfortunately, I was not in shape to attempt either one of them!

Love this race director. He cares so much about every little detail of the race – before, during and after. And although the race course was changed due to covid-19, the cause did not get interrupted or side stepped. There were no excuses given only encouragement and expectations of what would come.

Ran the Day 1 Half of this two day event. COVID protocols were in place…masks before race; staggered start (basically start anytime you want between 6:45 – 9:00); grab and go aid stations. Very flat and shaded course. Weather was perfect. Course was an out and back along the Laxawaxen River which I normally don’t care for but this one was ok. Nice view of the river almost the whole time. Lots of swag – everyone got a tech tee shirt, but there were extras (jackets, tees, quarter zips) for signing up early, doing races both days, BQ, etc. Open course but traffic was limited and there were traffic pacers going back and forth on the road to control speed. Very low lying land so don’t expect to get a great signal (GPS worked but couldn’t stream music). Parking was limited. Will do this race again.

The 2021 race was located in Lackawaxen, PA. Due to COVID precautions the race allowed runners to start at any time which spread out the runners. Ina addition the race production was kept to a minimum to prevent large groups of runners from clustering. However, this was a great race and awesome medals, a technical shirt and running jacket if you sign up during early registration. The entire course is run on the road, out and back Half Marathon (two laps for the Marathon) that follows the Lackawaxen River. I highly recommend the Two Rivers race!

This is a small event. They did an excellent job with communication before the race with emails. If you like the small race feel then you will love it. This was my 3rd marathon. I have done Iron Man races too. I did NYC and Philly prior. But if you want something simple and fun then go for this race. the Logistics were easy. The director is one cool dude. It is a declining elevation and the few uphills do change things up. While no marathon is easy I did PR this one. Why? Well I worked harder and I am a 6 months removed from my Iron Man. It hit 60-70 on the second 13.1 and it was harder. Overall if you are looking for a value and you just love to run and compete then go for it. Aid stations every 2 miles were helpful. I carried my own nutrition and fluids. But they did bring my custom drink to mile 14 so I could swap bottles. It was very nice of them to do this very athletes. 🙂
