This was the conclusion of the Winter Trail Bash series and while it was warmer than the other two races, it was also very muddy due to recent warm weather and rain. Very muddy. Very. This race also had all participants doing the same distance (the other two were a 5k/10k and a quarter/half marathon) – everyone did 5 miles here … or really, it was 5.1 miles. Smooth sailing on the registration and pickup – slightly disappointed that there wasn’t a shirt this time or a finisher’s award. Swag included a beanie and (if you completed all three races in the series) a Trail Bash medal. Personally, I had a blast. I even fell in the aforementioned mud – but it was during a bottleneck section and everyone was tiptoeing through one particular mud hole and I tried to go around too quickly. All good though and the mud cushioned the fall. 🙂 In the middle of the race, I was thinking that I’m getting too old for trail runs and then I remembered I already registered for this race company’s summer trail series so I’m in for 3 more!
Mud Festival!
