This race is a nice small hometown race in the foothills of North Carolina. There might have been 200 people running the half-maybe. The production was sufficient for the size of the event, I didn’t register in time to guarantee my tshirt size, but I was lucky enough to get one after the race. There were plenty of facilities available. They did have an awesome breakfast after the race. The course wound through beautiful scenic countryside. All the fall colors were out and it was gorgeous to take in. There are a lot of hills both steep and long as well as rolling. The worst was probably around mile 9-10. So, yah it kicked my butt. There were volunteers on the course where they were needed. There were a few times where I was unsure which way to go but found someone to show me at just the right time. There is good crowd support at the end, but otherwise it was just me and the road and the occasional runner, so it felt a lot more like a long run than a race, but it sure was beautiful. That is my kind of running right there.
