The Thriller Lake Endurance run is a 12, 6, and 3 hour timed loop event on the 2.2 mile loop around Miller Lake at Little Mulberry park in Gwinnett County, GA. A Trick or Treat style Fun Run will be hosted in conjunction with this event, allowing participants to complete a single 2.2 mile loop with trick OR treat stations setup along the course.
The timed races will have a staggered start, allowing all the runners to experience the dusk/dark and the eerie feeling that comes with it. Headlamps will be required! The course is a 2.2 mile paved path following the perimeter of the lake, while also winding through the surrounding woods and Karina Miller nature preserve. There is roughly 70′ of gain and loss per loop. The start/finish area will have typical aid station fare and water provided as well as plenty of space to set up your own personal aid-stop if you choose to do so. We will also have a water stop at the halfway point of the course. Please note that the park will be open to the public during this event, so please be respectful of others using the path and follow all of the recommended shared trail behavior protocols (ie. pass on left, announce yourself, don’t drop trash anywhere other than a designated receptacle!) Please also be aware that the Trick or Treat fun run will start at 6PM and there may be an initial blob of runners/walkers and children starting out, but should thin out quickly.

The Trick or Treat fun run is for kids and adults of all ages looking for a trick or treat experience in a fun, safe, and positive community setting. Participants will complete one loop of the Miller Lake trail with plenty of opportunities to experience the magic of Halloween. Costumes are highly encouraged, practically required! I mean, I’ll be wearing mine… We will have several trick or treat stations along the course stationed with costumed volunteers and most importantly, candy! And don’t worry, you don’t have to run, but as night falls, things may only get stranger…. Just kidding… Or am I?
Seriously though, the Fun Run will start at 6PM, just as the sun starts to set, aka dusk. Most walkers can complete this loop easily under an hour and should be done before full dark (7:30PM). We still encourage guests to bring a flashlight, headlamp, old-timey oil lantern, or a lit torch if you’re concerned about the dark. Ok, maybe not a real torch, but you get the point. Strollers are allowed but we will have to discourage any type of bicycles, scooters, or motorized devices unless medically necessary as there will be other runners on the course as well as the general public. Please remember to always be aware of others using the trail and keep to the right when others need to pass.
The fun run will not be timed. Instead, every participant will get a glow-in-the-dark wrist band when you check in, so that our volunteers will know who is participating in the event. We’ll also have a special treat bag available for the kids, or they can bring their own!
Did I mention costumes? Oh yeah, it wouldn’t be a Halloween event without a costume contest! The best costumes (as judged by the Summit Pro Racing Team – and we know our stuff when it comes to costumes) will get acknowledged AND a special prize.

I decided to fit this in during a quick trip to GA with the wife since she planned to shop with her bestie all day.
My goal was to do 50k which I easily did. I clocked 33 miles in 7:08 and called it a day. I could’ve done more but don’t want to derail my current schedule for an upcoming 100.
The course is all on paved pathway with little elevation gain. I ran 4 minutes and walked 2 throughout since the terrain wasn’t steep enough to dictate run/walk cycles.
The RD was cool and had jokes! The volunteers were super nice. I asked for chocolate early on thinking they would since this race had a Halloween vibe, but they had ZERO chocolate. One of the volunteers tracked down a Reece cup when I was deep in and gave it to me!! So nice of her!! Of course it motivated me.
They had all the typical food and tailwind, which I love. They also has decor, skeletons, scary things, which was fun.
This would be good for a first timer. I also opted for the 12 hour since I’ma huge fan of the 10am start. It did get hot up into the low 80’s I believe. Keep eating and pushing fluids. I had no issues as far as that goes. They provided hot quesadillas, soups, etc. that were great!
If I were local I’d probably do this one again. The lake is beautiful along with the forested scenery.
