The majority of the race is running though open fields of heavy, thick grass. Its like running through sand. It weighs down your feet making them difficult to pick up with every step. A small part of the race is on trails, and that part is much easier to run on, its packed down dirt. I also didn’t realize how many creek crossings there would be for this race (my fault, should have researched more) but there were some muddy, waist high crossings. Being soaking wet for half of the race was no fun for me. I have learned after this race that I never want to run trail races again 🙂 . I was proud that I finished cause this one was HARD!
