The annual Steve Haydu St. Patrick’s Lo Tide Run is back again in Carolina Beach this March. The course starts and finishes at Lake Park in Carolina Beach, which is a beautiful 11-acre freshwater lake just two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean. The course is flat and takes runners through the town of Carolina Beach. The course is stroller and wheelchair friendly.
Come decked out in your green St. Patrick’s Day attire and join thousands as we run or walk to raise money for local cancer warriors in need of financial assistance.
The Steve Haydu Lo Tide Fund, Inc. is driven by a single goal; to raise money for New Hanover County residents struggling financially due to a cancer diagnosis. The Lo Tide Fund is a certified non-profit. The recipient decision making progress is on a case by case basis as each individual’s journey and financial need is different. As an all-volunteer Board of Directors, the group strives to help as many local residents as possible.

This was my first ever 10k, and I ran it several times. It’s for a really good cause, and the course is pretty easy from what I remember – fairly flat and fast. I will say that the last 1/4 mile or so is on sand, which was NOT easy! Especially when you’re trying to finish quickly 🙂 But there are lots of spectators along the course cheering for you and the whole atmosphere is very festive, considering it’s St. Patrick’s Day.
