This race is held on a nice, paved rail trail with easy footing, wide enough for both runners and park guests. The course is an out-and-back, generally downhill to mile 10, then dropping 250 feet to mile 13.1 before turning back. This makes miles 13-16 challenging, with the last 10 miles being a slight uphill. Experienced runners who pace themselves on the way out should do well. Weather in western Massachusetts can vary this time of year, so be prepared for race temperatures to rise quickly due to the relatively late 7:30 a.m. start
