The race is at a Christmas Tree farm just on the outskirts of a small town. Packet pick up was morning of in a small trailer but they had it super organized so you could go in one door, get what you needed and head out the other. I didn’t find any issues with this at all. There was not a shirt along with race entry but you could purchase a 3/4 zip fleece if you chose too.

One of the things that I loved/hated about the race is we had 3 distances to choose from: 1/2 Marathon, 10k and 5k. I chose the 10k but everyone started together so I had NO IDEA who I was running against!! It wasn’t hectic or anything you just don’t know who is running what at first so at the 5k mark they split off for the finish, you could possibly be in someones way but this didn’t happen with me!
The course started on the road and was out and back for the first 5k. When the 5ker’s split from us I realized how few people were continuing on. At this point the 1/2 and the 10k headed out into the tree farm.
It was all fields and wooded so the second half of the race was a trail race for me!! Some of the ground was sandy, some muddy and some just so covered in leaves you couldn’t see the tree roots and had to be very careful. It wasn’t at all hilly but still slowed us down!
At mile 5 the terrain got more technical and I slowed down more but it was more so due too the sand/leaves mixing together to create a little footing chaos. It may not be like this every year. The 10k finishes after this portion and the half marathoners continue to complete the entire loop a second time.
They gave us all a cool piece of wood with the logo burnt into it instead of a finishers medal. I think it is pretty cool and am glad I have something a little different to remember this race with.
They had a heated tent set up with great food and heat. I grabbed a hot chocolate, banana and a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich!!!
While waiting for the results my daughter showed me some crafts she had made while I was racing! She also got a bag with a coloring book and box of crayons in it. They really had a nice setup for the kids inside the tent so they didn’t get bored easily. As a family we really appreciated that.
Then Santa and Mrs. Claus showed up!! They sat in chairs and talked to all the kids(and adults). It was a nice added touch since the race is on a christmas tree farm a few weeks before the holiday.
Overall this race was a lot of fun and I am wanting to make it a repeat race for me for sure!!
