Packet pickup: was at Thomas hospital in Fairhope, not well marked and was hard to find. Pickup itself was weird, there was a line for the 10k and the fun run, but you would never have known it because neither was marked. I stood in line for 15 minutes until someone called out asking if anyone was running the 10k. But once I was in the right line it was quick and easy.
Parking: absolutely no info on where to park on the day of. I emailed and left Facebook messages asking for info and was never given a reply. Ended up street parking kind of near the start.
Starting line: we started 15 minutes late…all the opening hoopla took a while.
Course: well marked, great police and volunteer presence. The residents of the neighborhoods we ran through were great. Lots of spectators and encouragement.
Finish: no chip timing! Still don’t know my official time. Very old school, I know my gun time because my mom was there and watched the finish clock for me, but I don’t have an official time. They still haven’t updated there website with results. Strange.
Overall, I had a good time. I’m very glad I wasn’t running for a PR or anything, because of the lack of accurate time keeping. But a good hometown race.
