Overall this was a very well run race. Great vibes, good organization, and good views. Apparently this was the first time running on this new route. While the route itself was fine the organizers needed to have adjusted the time of the race to accommodate weather. The route has almost no shade whatsoever and the races did not start until 9 AM for the half marathon and 10 AM for the 5K. By the time both of the races had kicked off the route was far too hot. There was also only limited fuel stations which added to the problem. I would recommend the Reese’s start at 7 AM and 8 AM which is more common for these types of races.

Wash rinsecrepeat. Last year I did this race we started at Budweiser Brewery. This year new course. A little flat but that’s OK. Starting in Wellington but the beauty over half of it was on cinder and rock not concrete abd asphalt. My knees were living it. Nice to run a race on a surface that has give. Since it is a march race weather is always a guess. So I was glad I dressed for Colorado weather

So I wanted to run or get back into running. 1st race since my high school days. I didn’t have a clue. Started at Budweiser Brewery went thru a neighborhood or 2..but the course was not friendly to the joints. I had to figure that out the hard way. I finished. Surprised myself it was better than anticipated. I did dress for the day. It was sunny and cold.
I knew I would do this race again
