Whether you are a serious runner getting ready for the upcoming race season, an avid walker logging steps on your pedometer, or just inspired to get up, get out, and get moving, Speare Memorial Hospital’s Shamrock Shuffle is the event for you.
This fun run / health walk was developed in response to an identified community health need to live a more active lifestyle. Speare’s Shamrock Shuffle 5K encourages participants of all ages and abilities. The event is not officially timed, as our focus is to encourage families and all community members to take steps toward a more active lifestyle.
The course starts and finishes at Plymouth Regional High School. The course is a 5K through the streets/neighborhoods of Plymouth offering a mix of straight flats, short hill climbs and easy downhill trots.
Be sure to dress in green to celebrate the St.Patrick’s Day theme. Completing the course is sure to raise your heart rate and your spirits as we get ready to welcome spring. Proceeds from the event will support Speare’s community outreach and health education programs.
The first 150 registered walkers and runners are guaranteed their requested shirt size. The event will take place no matter rain, sleet, snow or shine.

According to my Fitbit watch, Speare’s Shamrock Shuffle is my fastest 5K (under 30 mins). But I don’t trust my Fitbit so I’m not claiming the time. The race is a fun, family-friendly race that runs through a hilly neighborhood. Many of the runners knew each other. There were less than 100 people in attendance and it took place right before the Corona Virus took over our lives. Participants were given a bib, shirt and bling. But the race is untimed which is a little disappointing for those who like to race against the clock.
