Despite being a long ways away (it takes a while to drive all the way to the south end of TX, it’s pretty darn big) it’s a great race. Packet pick up is easy.
The 5k on Saturday is completely on the beach.
The half marathon is partially on the beach and around the island. When I ran this race it was only the island now I believe they run the causeway too but my race was completely flat.
Beautiful scenery right on the gulf and around the island. It isn’t tourist season so it’s not crowded and lots of rooms.
RAV Run Adventures does a great job of running this event. One of the big perks is lots of photographers on the course and all the pics are free!
The Swag: the medals are great and the jacket is a rain jacket and one of my favorites. You get a moisture wicking shirt and if you do the 5k you get one for that too.. do the Loggerhead Challenge you get 3 medals, 2 shirts and a jacket!
The people of Padre do come out to support the race and there are plenty of water stops.
