This was a pretty bare-bones 50k. 2 laps of a hard, very hilly 25k loop. The scenery was incredible, the race was fairly well organized, the price was good for the distances offered. The aid stations only provided water, pb&J’s and cookies. Hopefully next year they’ll add some sort of salty snack or electrolytes. This is not an easy 50k and probably won’t be a PR. The course is about 80% up and down hills and a majority of the flat portions are sandy. The race swag was decent for how small the event was. You get a little Soboba bag, a shirt and a head band. If you do this race make sure to bring a hydration pack with plenty of electrolytes and calories.
I will be signing up for this race again next year.

Incredibly challenging 50K. Two loops with steepness beyond 20% (both up and down). For a first-time distance race (previously only 5K and 10K), there were some difficulties including only one aid station with more than just water (and only 5 aid stations)), they did a pretty good job. The scenery and terrain were wonderful and the course was (if you didn’t run with your head down) very easy to follow. Plus, the race director will take some advice for future years.
