The Scenic Byway Half Marathon is chip timed and USATF certified and starts at Court Square Park. It follows around the block and through beautiful downtown Belle Plaine before heading north across the Minnesota River. Volunteers will be there to cheer you on! The course then takes you along Minnesota’s Scenic Byway with rolling hills, eagle sightings and stunning countryside views. Half marathoners will then run back through the historic Avenue of the Trees towards Blakely, home of U4ic Brewery. Then a gradual climb takes you back to the finish line.
Local clubs compete for cash prizes for the best stop and runners vote at the end of the race.
The course will have volunteers, Ham Radio operators, and members of the Belle Plaine Police & Fire Departments, as well as some directional arrows to help guide runners through the race route. Be sure to pay attention to all course signs. Participants receive a medal, tee shirt & a drink token.
A 2-person relay will be offered to runners. Runners are responsible for their own transportation to and from the half way exchange point. Please note, the 1st runner will run a bit longer than half of the 13.1 miles, due to safety of the runners and having a safe exchange point. The exchange will take place near Mile Marker 8 and Water Stop 4. Space is limited to 50 teams. Participants receive a medal, tee shirt & a drink token.
The 5K race is chip timed and USATF certified. The 5K begins at Court Square Park and leads you on a fun route through Belle Plaine. It is lined with our very best volunteers who will cheer you on with all they have! Participants receive a tee shirt.

My friend and I were excited to do a live race, so we were happy with anything. But this was a gorgeous little race, perfect setting for a Fall race. It was a tough course, a lot of hills but it was so beautiful that I almost didn’t notice – Ha! The swag and goodies were awesome. They had everything bagged up including medal when we arrived. This was to have less contact. I was told the after events are a lot of fun during normal years and there is usually a festival to go along with it. So I am excited to do this again hopefully under more normal circumstances. My friend and I want to tackle the relay again. There was a glitch with timing due to the person assigning bibs not putting us in the relay category. But it was resolved and our time corrected for the most part.
