Overall, a lot of areas for improvement.
Pros:
– Crowne Plaza is definitely the place to stay! 1 minute walk to start and finish, great hotel, some local restaurants.
– Solid finisher medal, nice race shirt.
– Expo is at the Savannah River Brewing Company which is excellent… great food and beer.
CONS:
– They mention that the course was changed due to a past hurricane, which has closed some of the running trails. This means that the course is 4 loops of the same thing. If this doesn’t bother you, no worries! But you’ll get to see the loop a lot.
– The course is almost all concrete slabs which meant by the end my joints were quite sore.
– There is only one timing pad and it’s the finish line, so no splits or chip time.
– Not much in terms of food at the finish line.
