I cannot recommend this race highly enough. Really. Everything about it is top notch. From the race director Scotty Mills to every volunteer, it is all top quality, and the best you could ever even hope for at an event. The course was very well marked, the aid stations were perfectly spaced out, the food choices were perfect, the race used Tailwind Nutrition which I trained with and love, and THE SWAG!! I never knew it was possible to get so much swag from a race. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not why I signed up, but it was sure a nice thing. The course itself was beautiful, but to be respected. It traversed a variety of terrain, some of it with majestic mountains, some pine forest, some deserts, some grassy fields, lakeside running, etc. You get it all at SD100! You also get to find out what you’re made of during the last two climbs… but crossing that finish line might have been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. If you have 100 mile dreams, this is the race you should make them come true at.

WOW, what's truly incredible is any athlete who finishes a 100-mile race. Great finish time, too! This definitely sounds like an event worth considering for us SoCal ultrarunners who are curious about (though not yet ready to commit to) the 100-mile distance, since based on your description the course has a little (or a lot) of everything to keep the mind distracted from the body's discomfort. CONGRATS on a hugely impressive accomplishment Jenny, and thanks so much for your great review! LESS
