Difficulty- there were some hills. Man, one of them was basically an incline for an entire Km!! Also mile 12 was an incline! Other than that, there was the normal Turkish brick type road which made footing a little difficult. If I could I’d prob give it a 2.5. Elevation map uploaded. Another thing that contributed was that it was HOT! shade in some places, but not a ton.
SCENERY- it was very nice with many views of the Sea.
PRODUCTION – the only reason I gave it a 4 was because the website had some conflicting information. The map showed a start point at one location, but then there were Google links to a different location and reference to a shuttle from start to finish. Thankfully the packet pick up location was correct, and it had the route display. Over all, the area is very walk able so it didn’t pose any real problem with the conflicting information. Aid stations had water bottles (as is typical for Turkey) oranges, bananas, and salt packets. Props to this race for reserving tshirt sizes! They did a good job of blocking off roads. Distance markers every Km. A couple of mine were really far off (ie 3.3k @3 k mark), but after the first half it was pretty on point. Ended with a distance of 21.22 k on my watch. Not bad.
SWAG – nice soft cloth draw string bag. I will be keeping this one. A tech shirt. And your medal. The shirt wasn’t distance specific. But that’s ok. It was still nice. At least the medal was – that’s really what’s important. Will upload pictures.
NOTES FROM OTHER RACES:
keep in mind, I did not run these. I just observed it.
10K- at one point we passed 10k runners on the opposite side of the road. I’m not sure how soon before they started, but it looked quite congested. Seems like the 10k Is the main event for this one. Eventually (not sure when) they merged with us.
For the full marathon (I think they said it was the first year with a full)- you had to do a 6k loop four times. Each time you got an arm band. After the fourth one, it merged into the half route somewhere . The full was quite small.
