The Runners Half Marathon of Reston race course has some rolling hills on beautiful, paved trails. The course will be well marked and lined with friendly and supportive volunteers to boost your spirits along the way. The half marathon is a single loop course which starts on Seahawk Drive and ends in the SLHS stadium. The half marathon and 5K races will be run on the same course, with the 5K race starting after the half marathon. 5K runners will be directed by course sentries where to turn around to return to the start/finish line.
The 5K race is perfect for walkers and families who are there to support their half marathon runner. We do not allow pets or strollers on course.
Extensive post-race food will be provided for all participants, volunteers, and their families. Both races start and finish at South Lakes High School. The course is amply supported with eager volunteers, porta-potties (for the Half Marathon), race-course water and Gatorade. Runners and volunteers receive a race shirt (tech or sweatshirt), hoo rag and other goodies at packet pick up.

I appreciate the race day bib pickup at the school as well as the start and finish. There were a few turnarounds which made the scenery less enjoyable but overall pleasant. It was a great cool temperature for running. Signage was great with volunteers at every fork pointing runners in the correct direction. I ran this to complete my Virginia run. It was pleasant but not a race that I would strive to register every year.

The course is along paved and wooded neighborhood paths. Hilly terrain, some two-way traffic, and a couple of “button hook” turns make the course challenging, but it is interesting and fun. The production is smooth and the team and volunteers that put the race together are a well-oiled machine. A smaller local race and among my favorites!
