Nice little run and a plus for 2020 – it was a real run. Relatively flat course, it is near a lake so there are some rolling hills but not enough to challenge a good race time. Scenery is really picturesque North Texas – horse and cattle ranches and you run through a neighborhood on the lake. That was probably the only minus in this race as it is not clearly marked when you go through the neighborhood BUT the race director, Jim Mckenzie, gives a very good pre-race briefing and details the turns.

The most exceptional thing about this run is Jim Mckenzie. By far, one of the most passionate race directors I have ever met and he pours his heart into this race and the cause it supports (changes every race but always for veterans).

The race SWAG is good – lots of local sponsors that put things in the participant bags. The door prizes are amazing – somewhere between $25 – 35 each and he gives out many of them for both races. Cash money prizes to the overall 5k winners (male and female) same with the Half. If you are looking for a small race for a good cause and want to go to the lake afterwards – this is your race!
