This was the second year I participated in this race. My review last year has more details about the reason for the race. It is for an excellent cause and is a beautiful tribute race for the daughter of a running friend. It is a low-key more local charity race and production is excellent for what it is. The reason I took away a sneaker is it was so hot for this race. While a race can’t help the weather I thought a few additional things such as an email warning about the heat and an added aid station were needed. The race takes place at Delta Dental and is the typical course for these Concord races. Packet pick-up included a bib and a bar of soap from the daughter’s company. It is super flat but it was also super hot. The course is well marked and chip timed but again could have used a water station. I was hoping to finish around 38 minutes and was on target the first 2 miles but started to have severe nausea and had to slow down the last mile but still beat 40 minutes which for the weather and everything was fine. I had plans and had to leave right after but I believe there was pizza and more goodies after but even if I didn’t have to leave I couldn’t eat right away. Overall this is a nice, local event and goes to a good cause and is a beautiful memorial. Hopefully if held again it will not be as hot and if it is they can add extra water or something to help cool us off.

This is a race that was made in honor of the daughter of a member of my running club who tragically died from heart disease. I do have a little bias since I know many people involved in this race but they did a wonderful job for a small, tribute race. The race was held on the anniversary of her daughter’s passing which was a Tuesday night. It is held at the Delta Dental business park where most of the Concord races are held. There was race day packet pick-up and you got a bar of soap that was made by her daughter’s company wrapped in a small heart bag. It was very nice, meaningful and a different swag item than usual. Race started with a speech and an anthem. It followed the typical course around dental dental and the nearby community college with a lot in parking lots. It isn’t the most exciting course but it doesn’t require closed roads and is quiet since people are done with work and school. It was well marked. It is pancake flat but almost a little too flat. Still I was determine to get under 36 minutes and I was happy I was able to. No medal at the end but that is standard. I also got an age group award so got a $10 gift card to a grocery store. There were healthy snacks like fruit along with water. Overall this was a really nice smaller race and a touching tribute.
