Decent Inaugural Event

Signed up for this half marathon as I’m a sucker for an inaugural event with a silly turkey on the medal. There also aren’t too many Thanksgiving/turkey themed half marathons in Northern California, so I couldn’t resist.
First, the bad and really the only bad: ZERO FOOD at the finish. I finished the half in 2:52 but by the time I was done, there was absolutely nothing to eat or drink except some paper cups for water. I don’t know if they ran out of food or if there was never any to begin with, but there was no evidence that there was ever anything to eat for runners.
That is the only bad. Maybe something went wrong with the food situation…
The rest of the event was good, and enjoyable. Nice race organizers. I am not normally a trail runner but the trail sections were not very technical, not too many tripping hazards to deal with. There is one section (that you pass twice) where you run near a nearby sewage treatment plant and OH MY did that stink! So be warned.
So, about 1/2 of the course was trail-like and the other 1/2 run on the roads through some neighborhoods, nothing that exciting to look at there. Big houses.
The medal was VERY nice, large and well designed with a goofy turkey (the year’s logo). The shirt was the same design, unisex though.
I would consider running this one again but some post-race items to eat would be nice.
