Small field (about 250 half marathoners), beautiful course but the rolling hills were tough. This was a peaceful race, without the Adrenalin of bigger races. MORE

Overall Rating: Pretty good small race.

Course Difficulty: Fairly constant rolling hills and rain for most of this race made this one a little tough. Several folks had a dream chafe going on, and the others were waiting for it. Without the rain it is probably a 3 out of 5.

Course Scenery: The Hudson valley is a pretty place. After I left, I felt like I had seen the other New York, outside of the big city. It was nice.

Race Production: From my perspective everything was flawless. You knew exactly what was going to happen and when, and then it did.

Race Swag: Good. Decent medal, and a dry blend t shirt.

My Performance: It was fine, once it started raining I went into survival mode so I could get the finish.

Met some new friends along the way who I’d be running with the rest of the week, and an RD who sweet talked me into running all 6 of the New England Challenge Races. Glad he did.
