I love this race. Course is fast and flat except for one notorious hill, Mt. Greenway, that you hit on the way out and the way back. Nice balance of enabling a fast time while also having a unique challenge.
The race and production has a friendly and low-key feel to it–it’s not a spectacle the way some bigger mass participation events can be so if that’s what you’re looking for this won’t be the best race for you. Almost the entire course is on the greenway, so there won’t be big road closures or big cheering crowds.
The production is also more laid-back. There’s not a huge expo, but there are multiple packet pick-ups that at local small businesses. Communication is also great–in 2024 they had to adjust the course and start location bc of greenway construction but the change was well-communicated and they arranged buses on short notice to move people to the start.
The swag of a shirt, koozie, and sticker was cool. I also love the Top Finisher mugs for the top 75 men and top 75 women and hope to collect a few more over the years.

This was a beautiful race through the trials of Crabtree! The race is relatively flat, except for at mile 2 and 11. For those two miles, there is a very steep incline and rapid decline following it. The rest of the run is filled with beautiful scenery of nature. The production was middle of the row, however having pacers was a great touch. The swag is awesome, and the medal is very unique. I set my PR this race and couldn’t be happier with the results. This would be a good beginners half marathon and possible a repeat race. Awesome job Sir Walter Running!
