Reebok Ragnar Del Sol is back to February when Sonoran Desert provides a magical backdrop for 200-ish miles of relay running. Think: cool running weather, towering Saguaro cacti and sunsets that belong in a water color painting.
This overnight running relay begins in the in the Wild West town of Wickenburg on Friday morning. Teams of 12 (or 6) runners tag team the miles, cheer each other on and run into the sunset. During the night, stars envelop runners, vans light up with Christmas lights and teams enter an alternate universe. On Saturday, runners worship the rebirth of the sun and find out what they’re capable of all the way to the finish line.
In this non-stop adventure, here’s what you’ll experience: running at night, in the dark, and pushing your limits in the heat of the day. It’s not easy, but you can do it because you’ve got a team who will journey together with you. As a team, you’ll relay through each exchange from Wickenburg to Tempe, building each other up and supporting each other (and maybe random strangers) along the way.
And when it’s all over? You can put your feet up and breathe in the good stuff … and exhale the old stuff. Just let it go. Because you’ve broken the shell of your old comfort zone, challenged your limits and grown. (Insert relaxing sigh here.)

People are amazing! The volunteers and the runners have a great time and are encouraging. You don’t have to be an avid runner to participate. Just be willing to push yourself in a positive way. The markers, and the race set up could be better. Very little
Markers outlining the course, lights that were there for the race were never on and route changes have reduced the amount of
Miles over the past years and they have cut out some beautiful scenery cause of
It. It would be really great if they had the race trackers for more accurate time.

I signed on with a team of unknown people as I did for NW Passage. This team had one van full of friends, and they filled the second van with strangers. It was a good experience; the other 5 in my van were fun, loved running, easy going and all different. It was probably the most under-whelming Ragnar, much like the Vegas Ragnar, lots of sand and distant hills, the best part was at night because it is so dark in the desert you can see a million stars…but also odd rustilings in the brush. My BFF lives in Phoenix, so that was a bonus.
