Every August the Northeast Delta Dental Race To The Top Of Vermont draws hikers, bikers, and runners from across the U.S. and Canada to climb Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak. The course ascends the historic Mansfield Toll Road, is 4.3 miles in length, and has 2564 feet of up. For some it’s all about trying to achieve a fast time on this challenging course. For others… they come to support the Catamount Trail Association, to test themselves, and to enjoy the spectacular views.
The Northeast Delta Dental Race To The Top Of Vermont isn’t only for those individuals driven to train 7 days a week or those blessed with outstanding genetics. This is an event for Everyone. That doesn’t mean the Race To The Top is going to be easy. It’s not. This course will challenge you, and test you. But, with enough determination, and a little grit, you will succeed. You will make it to the Top of Vermont, and our hope is that along the way you will find inspiration in your success, and the success of all of those around you.

This is one of the races I will do every year. I love the community, the organizers, the photographer (Joe Viger) and all my friends that come back year after year. The race is short enough to enjoy the views but still push to finish strong. I love the 2 fiddlers playing right near the finish line and how friendly the mountain runners are at this race.
I won my age group and have a super cool mug to match the ones that I have won in the past and glad that they put first, second and third on them so I can add to the collection.
Delta Dental is a great supporter of mountain races in the Northeast and I am thankful that they are still there in full force at the finish and sometimes out on the course. Love the toothbrushes, the shirt here and the ice cream! Free beer for those that indulge too (They give you a ticket as a participant).
It is a family friendly race and the kids race at the bottom is always fun to watch while having a healthy burrito as post race meal. Well done! AND it benefits the Catamount Trails in Vermont.
Views to keep you going!

Mt Mansfield is so beautiful! The first time I ran this in 2007 it was foggy and raining and I don’t remember much of the race. This year we went as a team and enjoyed the views along the way. The finish was actually at the top past the visitor center and the run down was beautiful The course was uphill, but nothing crazy so you could keep a steady run. Love the people and Delta Dental does a great job! The only downfall is the price of the entry fee! So register early and get a team together to get as many discounts as you can.
The burritos were amazing at the finish and my friend Dawn won an age group award and the mugs are incredible. When I ran the last time I still have my stonewear mug. Great charity to contribute to in the Catamount Trails so all of the races including a kids race and bike race go to a great cause!
I will do this one again for sure!
