Great little race on a new Belton course. More concrete than I’d care for on a clockwise circular out and back with a meandering out and back attached. The finish is uphill, so save some for that. Nice medal and nice shirt. Punches above its weight for a small town 5k. I did do a higher than expected difficulty just due to the excess amount of concrete, which I hate to be on even for short races, and while this course is 100% slower than the other Belton course by the park and high school, it did go by quickly. Had some hills in there but nothing too steep and the out and back nature of the course made the downhills come later when you need them, with the exception of the last 50 meters or so leading back to the finish line, which was unfortunately up a big enough hill to slow you down some if you didn’t save enough in the tank. Free lemonade afterwards with boba lemonade available for purchase.
