Start the new year with a trail running adventure in the at the Piney Woods TrailFest, at beautiful Lake Houston Wilderness Park. With a distance for everyone, it’s a golden opportunity to run the way nature intended — through the woods!
Whether you’re a trail running newbie or a seasoned veteran, there’s a distance for everyone. All races are chip timed.
The 10 Miler runs a mostly single track loop through shady pine forest. The surface is sandy loam soil and the course profile is relatively flat.
The 5K starts at the same time but turns off the 10 Mile course to complete a smaller loop. There are 4 fully stocked aid stations with sports drink, water. All runners receive a tech shirt and post race party with refreshments, beer, music and catered meal. Veggie option available.
20 Miler is 2-loops and the 50K will be 3 loops at the most and may be 2 loops if the trails we plan to use are ready for use.
Medals for 20 Mile, 50k and Kids Mile finishers!
A post-race meal and craft beer are included with your entry.

If you haven’t done a trail race this would be a good one for a first time. Almost 0 elevation gain and pretty easy to navigate. Some sections had dips and roots and stuff, but overall pretty safe. I did the 10M which started 90 minutes after the longer distances and conflicts between the two groups of runners were minimal. My one gripe is the long out and back section on a gravel road. The Lake Houston park is very nice and well kept. The volunteers and signage were good, though I do wish there was better guidance to packet pickup.
