The Pigtails Run features a beautiful course along the river and through the woods. Come join the celebration – achieve success and havefun along the way to earn your piggy medal!
This isn’t the best course for your first 50K, there is little support and the weather can get nasty. Usually the people who do try for their first 50k will drop to a lesser distance or they will come in 2 hours past the cut off.
The route starts in Maple Valley at Four Corners shopping area. The start is a trail on Kent Kangley. You’ll run out to the intersection where the Green to Cedar trail becomes the Cedar River trail and make that right turn that the 50K-ers do on their way back to the finish on the original course. For a half marathon, you turnaround near the last bridge that crosses the Cedar River (it’s a big foot bridge) on the way to Landsburg and turn around. There is a road about half a mile before that for an aid station.
Marathoners will do a double out and back. 50K-ers can run all the way to the Landsburg parking (original start) and do an out and back twice for about 32 miles. There is a little more elevation on this course for all distances than there was in prior years, but not much difference overall. The course is mostly paved blacktop trail. There are portions of the race that will have some dirt and gravel.
