This festive race started and ended at Seville Square in the historical district of downtown Pensacola. The proceeds of the race went to a local food pantry. You had to bring 3 nonperishable food items to packet pick up if you wanted to get a race shirt. The theme on shirt was “LEG DAY” since it was a turkey trot. If I had to guess I’d say there were greater than 500 running and walking. There were 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes handed out to the best costumes. I saw everything from pilgrims and turkeys to a guy with a cardboard table cut out over his head w table cloth covering and all the fixings secured on top. His head served as the centerpiece with a turkey hat on it. Needless to say that he won first place for best costume. It was a very creative costume and he no doubt was in it to win. There were a few water stops along the way but no post race food served so not to spoil our feasting ahead. My sister Michelle and niece Sarah joined me for a family session and then hit the trails later for a tradional Thanksgiving trail just before stuffing this turkey. 😆
