Beautiful 2-loop race through the Arizona desert! Watching the sunrise as you run the first loop was simply breathtaking. The first half of the 15-mile loop is a slow, but steady climb with a few rocky parts. However, the 2nd half is a nice gradual downhill, which was especially wonderful finishing the race! The entire trail is perfectly “runable”, although I walked a few of the short hills to save energy. There’s only about 1000 feet of elevation gain per loop, so by ultra trail standards, it’s relatively flat. The race was small and the organization was great! As a first-time ultra runner, I got a great little cactus trophy at the finish! The only negative is that there were no finisher medals.
