This race is on a very quiet island. It has a late start (10am) which made for a very hot run. The 13 miles is basically the perimeter of the island, so lots of water views. It’s the flattest course I’ve ever seen. There are many water stops (with Gatorade) which helped a lot. Several people had sprinklers set up for the runners to run through. Only one water stop had Gu, but since I was at the back of the pack there weren’t many options left. Finish line is at the end of a gorgeous grapevine filled arbor. Medal is a wine stopper. After party is a buffet with all you can drink wine, free wine glass included. Band and awards for top runners. Long-sleeved race shirt with the theme of one of the Vineyards signature wines. It was a lot of fun. A great weekend away. Only 400 participants, so it sells out quickly.
