Lights! Camera! Action!… In 1927, Paramount Pictures purchased 2,700 acres of the old Rancho Las Virgenes for use as a “movie ranch.” For 25 years, a veritable who’s who of Hollywood practiced their craft at Paramount Ranch including director Cecil B. Demille and actors Bob Hope, Gary Cooper and Claudette Colbert. The diverse landscape was the real star of the show. It offered film makers the freedom to create distant locales such as colonial Massachusetts in The Maid of Salem (1937), ancient China in The Adventures of Marco Polo (1938), a South Seas island in Ebb Tide (1937) and numerous western locations including San Francisco in Wells Fargo.
The art of illusion was mastered on the landscape. The area is surrounded by miles of beautiful rolling tree covered single track trails, and was purchased from the National Park Services in 1982.
The old movie ranch still sits, and will serve as an epic and amazing backdrop to the start/finish of this race series! Beautiful finisher medals, great aid stations, great swag for all runners, free lunch after, and amazing race venue! Hikers are welcomed!

This was my first 50K. The course was tough in some areas, after the 3rd loop it became very harder and harder to continue and oh how I hate those switchbacks, by the time I ran my last loop I had completely blocked them out and I can’t even remember going through them. I had some much fun thou. The aid stations were great, and it was very well organized.
Always a Great Experience!!!!

This was my second time running this event and was just as good as the first time. Awesome trails with scenic views, great race swag and plenty of post race food. We had a large group come out and looking forward to 2017 where we will enjoy another end of year holiday event.
